The Perth Mint was first established in 1899 as a branch of the British Royal Mint. This was during the era of colonization but most of the dominant Western empires. It was not until 1970 that ownership of the mint was transferred to the Western Australian government. This was the beginning of an era that thrust the Perth Mint into global stardom because of its gorgeous imagery and quality products honoring true Australian culture. Today, Provident Metals offers you the 1989 Australian Nugget 1 oz Gold Coin!
The Perth Mint has been the source of many popular coin series amongst collectors and investors. This includes but is not limited to the Golden Kangaroo collection, the Golden Nugget coins, and the Silver Koala collection. The Australian Nugget Gold coin Series is the oldest out of all of them, making its stellar debut in 1896 to critical acclaim and high demand. It celebrates the discovery of a large gold nugget in the country. Delivered in protective, plastic flips, you will not have to fret about the state of your coin when it is in transit! The coin also is considered legal tender in Australia and holds a face value of 100 dollars although its intrinsic value is far more valuable.
For the obverse field of the 1989 Australian Nugget 1 oz Gold Coin, an effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is engraved. This effigy was sculpted by Australian artist, Raphael Maklouf. This image is depicted as a third-generation portrait of the former monarch of Australia. She is depicted in a right profile portrait with a rare appearance from her Royal Diadem crown that manages to steal the show from her other glittery accessories.
For the reverse field of the 1989 Australian Nugget 1 oz Gold Coin, the design of a gold nugget is engraved. Australia is known for its massive gold mines and this is an ode to this. The image is crafted to look like an extract of gold in the heart of a circle of strong rays. The outer border of the coin is surrounded by a circle of embroidery. The inscriptions here include; Australian Gold Nugget, 1 oz fine gold, and 1989.
