The Krugerrand Gold Coin is named after Paul Kruger. Paul Kruger is the former four-term President of the South African Republic and a Boer Statesman who fought British forces during the Second Boer War. In a bid to honor his legacy, the South African Mint created the South African Krugerrand Gold Coin in 1967. This was also a strategic move to capture a global audience in the private gold sector. Both feats were achieved. For the next twelve years, the Krugerrand Gold Coin had an intense grip on the international gold market. No other gold bullion coin could compete. In fact, by 1980, the Krugerrand accounted for over 90% of gold bullion coins in the market.
Design
It features the most meticulous designs created by well-known names of their time, Otto Schultz and Coert Steynberg. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
