Highlights:
Your 1990-P Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin comes with a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins with a PF70 certification showcase full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind. The Ultra-cameo, or UCAM, label means the coins have strong, frosted design elements and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields.
Obverse
The obverse side of 1990-P Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins bears the image of Lady Liberty as designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This image captures Liberty in front-facing relief holding a torch out in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. A circle of 50 stars surrounds her figure and the US Capitol Building is visible at her feet.
Reverse
On the reverse face, 1990-P Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins feature a family of American bald eagles. The design comes with a female eagle in the nest guarding a hatchling as a male eagle soars above the nest. This design is exclusive to the American Eagle Gold series and was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek.
History
Fractional-ounce gold coins from the United States Mint were initially produced by the Philadelphia Mint with the P mintmark. The coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint from the year of introduction until 1993, with the coins switched to the West Point Mint in 1994.
