Walking Liberty is featured on the obverse of 1991 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. This image was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and depicts Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. Her right hand is reaching out toward the sun on the horizon as her left hand carries the branches of oak and laurel while the American flag is draped over her shoulders.

The heraldic eagle of the United States is shown on the reverse face of 1991 American Eagle Silver Coins. This iconic emblem was first introduced in 1792 and has been modified for countless American coins over the past 225-plus years. The design featured here was modified in 1986 by John Mercanti, with its most notable change being the inclusion of a triangular cluster of 13 stars above the eagles head.

The American Eagle Silver Coin has varying mintages with each release date. The 1991 coin sold 7.191 million coins, the high-water mark for the decade of the 1990s. This was a nearly 2-million-coin jump from the 1990 release and was the highest mintage mark for most of the decade until the 1999 coin sold 7.4 million coins.
