Introduced in 1979, the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Series has undergone various ups and downs in demand over the course of its history. One of the lowest periods of demand came in the mid-1990s, a trend experienced by several other major gold bullion coin collections, like the American Eagle Gold Coin. Provident Metals currently has 1993 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

When you purchase a 1993 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin online in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is in a plastic flip. The mintage of just 321,413 gold coins in this series in 1993 marked a drop of nearly 500,000 coins from the 1990 release, but was also the highest mintage the series would see until the late 1990s when the Y2K crisis drove demand for gold higher again.

Obverse

The obverse of 1993 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. In this right-profile relief, the Queen is shown at the age of 64 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read ELIZABETH II, 50 DOLLARS, and 1993.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 1993 Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin, the Royal Canadian Mint features the sugar maple leaf. Designed by Walter Ott in 1979, this iconic depiction of the nations official emblem has graced the reverse of all versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf issued by the mint. The field includes inscriptions of CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1 OZ OR PUR.

History

Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins were the first modern gold bullion coins to boast .9999 pure gold content. When the series started in 1979, the 1 oz coins had .999 pure gold, but by November 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint had boosted the fineness of the coins to .9999, making the Maple Leaf the first modern 24-karat gold coin.

Ordering

These 1993 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins are available to you in plastic flips. The 1993 release had the highest mintage the series would see between 1993 and 1996.
