The two lowest mintages in the history of the Proof American Eagle Silver Series occurred in back-to-back years in the early 1990s. Overall, the 1990s was a period of depressed demand for silver and lower interest in collectible versions of popular silver bullion coins. In the modern era though, that means these coins are harder to come by and those with certification have even greater value to collectors. Right now, you can buy 1993-P Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online in perfect condition at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
If you purchase the 1993-P Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin available in this product listing, you are receiving a coin with a perfect PR70 grade. Obverse
The obverse face of all 1993-P Proof American Eagle Silver Coins bears the historic image of Walking Liberty. This design shows Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. In pursuit of a brighter future, she walks with her right hand outstretched toward the future as her left hand carries the branches of oak and laurel. The American flag is draped over her shoulders and flaps in the breezes as she walks.
Reverse
On the reverse side, 1993-P Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins showcase the heraldic eagle of the United States. The national emblem has an American bald eagle with the national heraldic shield on its chest. The bird clutches the arrows of war in one talon and the olive branch of peace in the other, with its head turned to face the olive branch. Above its head is a triangular cluster of 13 stars representative of the original colonies.
History
1993 Proof American Eagle Silver Coins set what was then a record-low mintage with just 405,913 coins. This would be surpassed in the next year by the 1994 coin. The 1993 Proof American Eagle Silver Coin is also notable among collectors as the first one struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a P mint mark. From 1986 to 1992, the coins were produced at the San Francisco Mint.
