Altogether, this coin was manufactured with 22 karats of actual gold content. When you order from Provident Metals, your coin will arrive in a plastic capsule within a special presentation box.

History

1994 is the first year that fractional coins of the American Eagle Gold Coin series were manufactured and distributed by the West Point Mint. Prior to this year, these fractional coins were actually manufactured at the Philadelphia Mint; however, since the West Point Mint was already producing the 1 oz versions of these coins, it only made sense that this same Mint would distribute fractional versions as well. This coin features a W mint marking on it, which helps indicate that it was struck at the West Point Mint.

Obverse

The image of Lady Liberty, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is featured on the obverse of the 1994 Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Coin. In the design, the viewer can see Lady Liberty walking forward with both arms extended. In one hand she carries a torch, while the other holds an olive branch. Behind her, the viewer can see sun rays extending out into the distance which helps highlight Lady Libertys radiance.

Reverse

A family of eagles, designed by Miley Busiek, is seen on the reverse of the 1994 Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Coin. In this design, a male eagle flies overhead, carrying an olive branch in its talons. It approaches the nest where the female eagle and their eaglets sit waiting for his arrival. The reverse also shows certain specs of the coin, including its weight, value, purity, and origin country.
