The Perth Mint first introduced its Australian Silver Kookaburra series in 1990, and it quickly rose to become a favorite among silver bullion buyers around the world. The series is known for its annual design change, always showcasing the kookaburra in a new way. Both investors and collectors continue to pursue these coins each year. Now, 1995 Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
Every 1995 Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin offered here comes in an acrylic capsule. For this year, the Perth Mint set a 300,000-coin cap for the 1 oz issue. The final tally reached 154,247 coins, comfortably above the totals of the other available weights but still short of the mintage limit.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1995 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin, youll find Raphael Makloufs portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile effigy shows the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and was a standard portrait on Australian coins from the mid-1980s into the late 1990s. The inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, 1 DOLLAR, and AUSTRALIA.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1995 Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin depicts two kookaburras sitting on the rail of a wooden fence. One bird faces directly forward while the other turns slightly, giving the design a lifelike sense of interaction. Each year in the Kookaburra series carries a one-of-a-kind design, making every release unique. The inscriptions read THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, 1 OZ 999 SILVER, and 1995.
History
The kookaburra is deeply connected to Australias national identity, reflecting the rugged spirit of the bush and the countrys wildlife heritage. In Indigenous traditions, the birds morning calls were linked to the rising sun and boundary keeping. Today, its unmistakable laugh remains a familiar part of the Australian landscape.
