As of the 2020s, the Mexican Libertad Silver Coins are available to purchase in eight weights. The series offers four fractional-ounce coins with weights of 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/2 oz silver as well. Additionally, the series features 2 oz, 5 oz, and 1 Kilo silver coins. The 1 oz coin is the only one that has been available since 1982.
Obverse
On the obverse of 1995 Libertad 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find a depiction of the coat of arms of Mexico. This design shows a golden eagle in left-profile relief with a serpent in its talons and beak. The duo is set on a prickly pear cactus wreath. The field includes inscriptions of ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1995 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin comes with an image of Winged Victory. Taken from the original 1921 gold Centenario, this design shows Victorys front-facing relief as she holds up a wreath and clutches broken chains. The background includes the mountains of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. Inscriptions on this side include 1 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1995, MEXICO, and LEY .999.
History
1995 Mexican Libertad Silver Coins are available as the final Type II version of the coin. The change from Type I to Type II was small in nature, with the inscriptions of onza and plata pura changed to OnZa and PLaTA PuRA.
