On the obverse of 1996-W Proof Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins, you will find Lady Liberty. This iconic design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the Double Eagle Gold Coin. In addition to the front-facing effigy of Liberty, this side comes with inscriptions of LIBERTY, 1996, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

The reverse side of the 1996-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coin depicts an American bald eagle. Designed by Miley Busiek, the image shows a male bald eagle flying above the nest as the female eagle in the nest guards the hatchlings. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 10 DOLLARS.

Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins had the second-highest mintage in 1996. The 1/4 oz gold coin was behind the 1/10 oz coin by nearly 20,000 coins, but was also 3,000 coins ahead of the 1/2 oz coin and 2,000 coins ahead of the 1 oz coin.

1996-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins are available inside presentation boxes with a Certificate of Authenticity included. The packaging of these coins may show signs of wear and tear due to the age of the specimens, but the coins are still in good condition.
