In 1997, the US Mint released a special 3-coin proof set showcasing its three major bullion programs. This marked the first time that 1 oz versions of the Gold Eagle, Silver Eagle, and the brand-new Platinum Eagle were bundled together. Obverse
The obverse of each coin in this 1997 Proof American Impressions of Liberty 3-Coin Set features a unique portrayal of Liberty. The Gold Eagle displays the classic Saint-Gaudens Liberty first used in 1907. The Silver Eagle presents the Walking Liberty image created by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916. The Platinum Eagle introduces a modern design by John Mercanti, focusing on the face of the Statue of Liberty.
Reverse
On the reverse side, each coin in the 1997 Proof Impressions of Liberty 3-Coin Set showcases a different bald eagle design. The Gold Eagle includes Miley Busieks family of bald eagles. The Silver Eagle features John Mercantis heraldic eagle design. The Platinum Eagle highlights a bald eagle flying over a landscape, created by Thomas D. Rogers.
History
This release coincided with the debut of the American Platinum Eagle series. In 1997, the US Mint introduced the Platinum Eagle in both bullion and proof versions, using new designs by Mercanti and Rogers to distinguish the coin from the existing Gold and Silver Eagles.

Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
