The Chinese Gold Panda Series has been a sought-after bullion collection since its launch in 1982. A unique feature of this series is the annually changing reverse design, always highlighting the Giant Panda. This distinctive approach has made the series a favorite among collectors and investors alike. Now, Provident Metals offers the 1998 Chinese Panda 1/10 oz Gold Coin for purchase.
Highlights:
The 1998 Chinese Panda 1/10 oz Gold Coin is packaged in a protective plastic pouch. This particular coin is a Large Date version, referring to the size and spacing of the numerals used to mark the year of issue. Some earlier Gold Panda Coins were minted with both Small Date and Large Date variations, adding an extra layer of collectible interest.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1998 Chinese Panda Gold Coin features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, an important structure within the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. This Taoist site has been a part of the coins design since the series debuted in 1982, reinforcing the historical and cultural significance of the Gold Panda Coins. The inscriptions read 1998 and the nation of issue.
Reverse
The reverse of this 1998 Panda 1/10 oz Gold Coin presents a unique depiction of a Giant Panda, shown reclining on a rock while holding a bamboo stalk in its paw. This exclusive design was used only for the 1998 release, making it a distinct part of the series. Inscriptions here read 10 (Yuan), .999 AU, and 1/10 OZ.
History
Giant Pandas are primarily solitary creatures. They spend most of their lives alone in bamboo forests, foraging for food and marking their own territories. Aside from mating season, they rarely interact with other pandas. Each adult panda establishes a home range, which often has little overlap with others.
