History

Demand for the American Eagle Silver Coin was rising in the late 1990s as the American economy cooled and fears over Y2K jittered markets and investors. Mintage in 1999 jumped to 7.408 million coins, the highest since 1991. The increase was nearly 3 million coins more than the 1998 release. From this point onward, the American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin would see continued growth in demand with three subsequent years of increased demand and sustained mintage levels above the dates of the 1990s.
