Inspired by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Austrian Philharmonic bullion coin series is a homage to Austrias national treasure and one of the greatest orchestras in the world. Available since 1989, the oldest coins in the Austrian Philharmonic Series are the 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins. Today, you have the opportunity to get 1999 Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Austrian Philharmonic Gold Series has undergone three waves of expansion since its 1989 debut. The first year of availability featured 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins. In 1991, the Austrian Mint added a 1/10 oz gold coin, followed by a 1/2 oz gold coin in 1994. The latest addition was the 1/25 oz gold coin introduced in 2014.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the 1999 Philharmonic 1 oz Gold Coin is a depiction of the Great Pipe Organ. This fixture inside the Musikverein is the third such organ installed in the concert hall. Inscriptions on this side include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, 1 UNZE GOLD 999.9, 1999, and 2,000 SCHILLINGS.
Reverse
The reverse field of 1999 Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins comes with a vision of musical instruments. This design element includes a cello, four violins, a bassoon, a harp, and a French horn. The lone inscription on this side reads WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.
History
Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins made it through the first decade of availability from 1989 to 1999 with a high mintage of 645,500 coins in 1995 and a low of 218,600 coins in 1994. The mintage of 230,700 coins in 1999 was the second lowest behind the 1994 coin.
