If you enjoy collecting unique silver bars, Provident Metals has a new ingot that will surely be of interest. Over one thousand years ago, the kingdom of Silla won a series of victories that enabled the three Kingdoms of Korea to unite. As a tribute to this achievement and to the popular Buddhist religion, the Buddhist Stele of Amitabha was created. Now, KOMOSCO has crafted a silver bar in its honor. Currently, 2 oz Silver Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Bars are available for purchase online at Provident Metals.
Bar Highlights:
Chances are youve never had a silver bar quite like the 2 oz Silver Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Bar in this listing from Provident Metals. This bar is a replica of a stone monument dating back to roughly the year 689. In keeping with the original, this bar has uneven edges, making it unlike your typical smooth rectangular silver ingot. Housed inside protective capsules, each bar also includes a light, antique finish to enhance the feel of an ancient historic artifact.
Obverse
On the obverse side of Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Bars we see the Amitabha Triad, just as you would if you saw the actual stele in the National Museum of Korea. In the original, we can see that the central celestial Buddha is surrounded by other spiritual figures. The bar maintains this design while adding in some detail that had faded from the actual stele.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2 oz Silver Buddhist Stele of Amitabha Bars depicts 20 sitting buddhas. Just like the original, they are presented in four rows of five each. On the side of the bar is the inscription 2 OZ .999.
History
The Amitabha here is depicted giving what appears to be a sermon, which indicates his influence on the culture at large. The Amitabha, also known as the Buddha of Immeasurable Light and Life, was a figure of great importance during the Three Kingdoms Period of 57 B.C. to 668 A.D. When the Silla dynasty achieved a series of military victories that united the Korean kingdoms, it comes as little surprise that the Amitabha was featured prominently on the stele erected for the occasion. Today, the stele is an official National Treasure of Korea.
