Design
A stylized rabbit face is found on both the obverse and reverse of these 2 oz Lunar Silver Stackers. Due to their domed shape, the reverse features an impression of the obverse rabbit image. Many collectors enjoy assembling multiple pieces and stacking them on top of each other. If you do so, you may wish to wear white cotton gloves to help mitigate tarnishing. Alternatively, you can choose to keep your stackers inside of their capsules as individual display pieces.
History
The rabbit is the fourth animal of the lunar cycle, coming in after the rat, ox, and tiger. The order of the animals is based on a popular folk legend in which the Jade Emperor held a race for the creatures of the land. The 12 winners would be chosen as his guardians and as representatives for the calendar. The race course included a great river at the end that the participants had to cross to reach the finish line. The rabbit was faring quite well when he slipped off a rock and fell into the river. Luckily, a floating log nearby enabled him to secure a top spot in the competition still.
