History

Born in New Brunswick, Ron Turcotte, started out as a hot walker before seeking an apprenticeship as a horse racing jockey. He quickly gained traction in the horse racing world with a 1965 victory at Preakness while riding thoroughbred Tom Rolfe. Eight years later, Turcotte enjoyed a historic year while riding the legendary Secretariat. After winning at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in May, Secretariat completed his Triple Crown with a victory at Belmont Stakes on June 9, 1973.
