History

President Donald J. Trump, 45^th President of the United States of America, signed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act into law on December 20, 2019, with provisions within the act establishing the new United States Space Force. The new branch is the sixth independent military branch and its operations are housed within the Department of the Air Force as a sister branch to the US Air Force.
