Obverse

Each rounds obverse bears the image of Fafnir, a large dragon. In this set, one round features a gold and teal dragon on a black background. The other round is the inversea black and teal dragon sits on a brilliant gold background. Fafnir is shown with his ferocious claws and his tongue hanging from his mouth. His body winds up the round and seemingly vanishes. Details about the coin and Fafnirs name can be found on the obverse of the rounds.

Reverse

The reverse image picks up where the obverse left off, with Fafnirs tail wrapping around the image of the Bicephalous Eagle, making an infinity symbol shape across the entirety of the round. The Bicephalous Eagle, a two-headed eagle, is a symbol featured on many Germania Mint rounds. It is a Roman mythological symbol for Janus, the god of all origins. In Roman mythology, Janus is also the guardian of doors, passages, gates, and bridges. The heads are facing opposite directions, symbolizing both the past and the future. Germania 2020 and 5 Mark can be seen written across portions of Fafnirs tail on the reverse of each round.
