The 20 Francs gold coin continued to feature during the eras of the First French Republic, Second French Empire, and the modern French Republic. The rooster design featured in these coins was issued only from 1892 to 1914. 20 Francs Gold Coins were the foundation of the Latin Monetary Union. This denomination of currency is considered by many to be a predecessor to the modern Euro currency that has become the common currency of the European Union.
