Designed by Chief Engraver James Barton Longacre, the obverse was inspired by the ancient Greco-Roman sculpture Crouching Venus. It features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a pearl-studded diadem inscribed with the word “LIBERTY.” You’ll also find the year of issue on this side.
Modeled after the Great Seal of the United States, the reverse features a heraldic eagle with a striped shield on its breast. Thirteen stars rest above to represent the original colonies. The denomination and mintmark are inscribed.
After the boom of the California Gold Rush in the late 1840s, the US Treasury was receiving such an unprecedented amount of gold that the plans for a $1 gold piece were expanded to include the $20 Double Eagle. It became America’s largest circulating gold coin and remains popular among collectors. Liberty Head Double Eagles were minted in three slight variations between 1849 and 1907 in Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans, Carson City, and Denver.
The coins in this category will have a randomized year of issue, depending on our current inventory. Each of them is in the condition of almost uncirculated or better.

Both faces on all of my coins actually show some luster under some very minor scuffing, and this includes coins from the 19th century. I was quite surprised and very pleased. Overall wear is nearly imperceptible. Don't be afraid to order these beautiful pieces of history."

This coin was part of my 6th purchase with Provident. I really don't use any other source at this point. The coin I received is the same year as the one pictured, 1904, and in about the same condition. Which is exactly as expected. Its a nice complement to the (very few) other gold coins I have and I'd recommend everyone have at least one for their collection."

I just received my Liberty $20 Gold coin in AU+ condition and it really exceeded my expectations. Almost no signs of wear except for a few minor scratches. I am no expert but I could easily call this BU. Really nice.
