Provident Metals selects your coins at random after your payment has cleared. We select coins to fulfill your order at this point based on whatever is available in-stock at that point in time. Please remember that it is possible to get coins with the same dates and in the same conditions if you buy multiples items in this listing.

Obverse

The obverse of 20 Peso Cuba Gold Coins features a bust of Jose Marti. The right-profile bust of Marti captures the essayist, poet, and journalist in an honorary pose. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include Patria Y Libertad, 33.436 G, 900 M, and a date mark. The entire design element is surrounded by a beaded rim.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 20 Peso Cuba Gold Coins is the national coat of arms. The Cuban coat of arms dates to 1906 and features a shield with three sections. The top third has a depiction of a bay with the sun rising into the sky and a key across the bar. The bottom two-thirds of the shield has a palm tree on a hill on the right and a striped field on the left. There is a Roman fasces in the background topped by a Phrygian cap with an oak-and-laurel wreath flanking the shield. Inscriptions on this face read Republica De Cuba and Veinte Pesos.

History

The US Mint struck these coins for the government of Cuba in 1915 and 1916. Gold Peso coins were issued in denominations of 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, and 20 Pesos. After just one year in production, demand for the coins was so low that new coins were not struck after 1916.
