History

Proof American Eagle Gold Coins were introduced between 1986 and 1988. The 1986 issue featured only the 1 oz coin, with these 1/2 oz gold coins introduced in 1987. The 1988 release featured the final two coins: 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins. Each American Eagle Gold Coin has 91.67% gold content with 5.33% copper and 3% silver making up the remaining metallic alloy.
