Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2001-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals, you will receive a certified near-perfect coin. These specimens exhibit full, original mint luster and have no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that are outside the primary focal points of the coin.
UCAM designations are for proof coins with strong, frosted designs and deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The ultra-cameo-proof designation indicates visual design elements that appear to float above the background field of the coin.
Obverse
Walking Liberty is found in the obverse design of the 2001-W Proof American Eagle Silver Coin. Designed in 1916, this full-length figure of Liberty is set in left-profile relief and is draped in the American flag. The field comes with inscriptions of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2001.
REVERSE
The heraldic eagle is present in the reverse field of 2001-W Proof Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. This image was created in 1986 by John Mercanti and comes with a front-facing bald eagle. The eagle supports the US national shield with its talons clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
History
The 2001 release of the Proof American Eagle Silver Coin was the first at the West Point Mint and had the highest mintage in the series since the 1987 coin sold 904,732 specimens.
