The engravings on this side of the coin include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and IN GOD WE TRUST.

History

The United States Mint first began producing American Gold Eagle Coins in 1988. Today, American Eagle Coins are minted in silver, gold, platinum, and palladium, which each metal type featuring a different design. These specific coins were minted at the West Point branch of the United States Mint, which is noted with a small W mint mark on the obverse of the coin.
