The 1/10 oz coin is often the most popular coin in the Proof American Eagle Gold Coin series. The collection celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2006 and released gold coins in the four weights. Previously a favorite among investors, the 1/10 oz coin fell into second-highest demand to the 1 oz coin this year. The 2006 Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins are now available online from Provident Metals in perfect condition.

UCAM stands for ultra-cameo, and this label signifies the coins have strong, frosted designs that contrast with the background.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2006 Proof American Eagle 1/10 Gold coin features a famous design of Lady Liberty that was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. President Theodore Roosevelt requested the artwork to revitalize the designs featured on American coins. You will see the U.S. Capitol in the background at Lady Libertys feet as she walks away from the building carrying a torch and olive branch in her hands.

Reverse

On the reverse face, you will see a design that is exclusive to the Gold American Eagle collection. The image is of a family of American bald eagles. The male eagle flies over the family nest, while a hatchling lies under the wing of the female eagle. This image was created by Miley Busiek in 1986.

History

The Proof American Eagle bullion coins were released in three stages. The 1 oz coin was first released in 1986. In the following years, the 1/2 oz coins were released in 1987, and the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins in 1988. Since 2008, the 1 oz coin has been in the highest demand followed closely by the 1/10 oz coin.
