The Proof American Eagle Silver Coin from the United States Mint is a massively popular collectible coin that often outsells other major BU coin series from other sovereign mints. Mintages can swing wildly from one year to the next in this series based on the motives of collectors, with the 1986 debut date mark remaining the most popular to date. In fact, only one other date mark has surpassed the 1-million-mintage mark in the history of this series after the 1986 coin, and it was the 2006 release. Provident Metals currently has 2006-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins available to you in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2006-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins from Provident Metals, the coin you receive comes with a near-perfect certification from the PCGS. Coins with a PR69 grade showcase full, original mint luster and come with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. To qualify for this grade, those flaws cannot be located in the primary focal fields and are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines only. The included DCAM label is specific to proof coins. It indicates deep-cameo-proof visuals that include strong, frosted design strikes and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields.
Obverse
Walking Liberty graces the obverse of 2006-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. This work of art from Adolph A. Weinman was created in 1916 and first used by the US Mint on the US half dollar from 1916 to 1947. On the Proof American Eagle Silver Coin, the image of Walking Liberty is accompanied by inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2006.
Reverse
In the reverse field of 2006-W Proof American Eagle Silver Coins, the United States Mint features the heraldic eagle. One of the oldest coin designs in American history that is still in use, this version of the heraldic eagle was modified in 1986 by John Mercanti for use on the American Eagle. It depicts a bald eagle supporting the US national shield. The eagle clutches the olive branch of peace and arrows of war in its talons. Above its head is a triangular cluster of 13 stars. Inscriptions read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar, and the W mint mark from the West Point Mint.
History
With 1,092,477 coins sold, the 2006 Proof American Eagle Silver Coin is second in mintage to only the 1986 coin and its sales of 1,446,778. No other date mark has surpassed 1 million in the proof range and only the 2011 coin, the 25th-anniversary release, came close with 947,355 coins sold.
