Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti used their artistic abilities to create the designs for the American Silver Eagle, which is known as “the official silver bullion coin of the United States.” The series was introduced by the U.S. Mint in 1986 and features coins containing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
This 2007 American Silver Eagle at Provident Metals has been certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation with a Mint State 69 grade and is back and guaranteed by the government.
Weinman created what some call America’s most beautiful coin design with the Walking Liberty image, which originally called the Walking Liberty Half Dollars home from 1916-1947. The beloved design features a full-length Lady Liberty striding toward a new day with renewed hope. She carries laurel and oak branches with stars and stripes breezing beside her and a rising sun in the background. “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “2007” are inscribed.
Paying homage to the Great Seal of the U.S., Mercanti depicts a heraldic eagle with spread wings behind a shield on the reverse. Thirteen stars float above the bald eagle that clutches a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its claws and a banner in its beak reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Other inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.”
