The obverse side of the 2007 Australian Lunar Pig Gold Coins features Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile portrait shows Her Majesty wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The design was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and became the fourth official likeness of the Queen to appear on Australian coins. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 15 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2007 Lunar Pig 1/10 oz Gold Coins, youll find a small piglet standing on rocks in a creek. The background includes a beaded border, along with the identifying marks of the coin, such as its year, weight, and purity. Inscriptions read 2007, 1/10 oz 9999 GOLD, and the Chinese emblem for the pig.
History
The 2007 Year of the Pig was considered extra special because it was a Golden Pig year, something that occurs about once every 60 years when the pig aligns with the metal element.
