Designs
On the obverse of each quarter in the 2007 US Mint Proof Quarter Set, you will find a portrait of President George Washington. This bust of Washington was created in 1932 by John Flanagan based on a 1786 sculpting of Washington. The design was created in 1932 to grace the US quarter in honor of Washingtons 200th birthday. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR. The reverse of the 2007 US Mint Proof Quarters comes with designs in honor of the five states featured in this date mark.
History
The US Mint Proof Quarter Set offered here is the ninth in the State Quarters Program. This series featured five designs per year with 50 issues in total. With the addition of the 2009 DC and Territories Quarters, the release set the foundation for the 2010 introduction of the America the Beautiful 5 oz silver bullion series. The State Quarters Program helped reignite interest in coin collecting in the United States.
