Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, the obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” and the coin’s denomination, year of issue, weight, and purity.
The reverse features a mouse standing on a stony path. The Chinese character for “mouse” is seen, along with the Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark. The mouse was the first coin issued in the Lunar Series II line of coins, which are slightly larger and thinner than the Lunar Series I coins.
Introduced in 2008 and ending in 2019, the Lunar Series II coins followed the success of the original series. The coins are based on the Chinese lunar calendar, which associates an animal to each year in the 12-year cycle. It’s believed that the personalities of people are based upon the traits of the animals that reign in their year of birth.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
