Per Canadian numismatic policy, this coin’s obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen’s portrait is set against a highly attractive textured background pattern. The coin’s face value of $200 is displayed towards the bottom, along with the date. A 12-sided inset border is engraved towards at the coin’s edge.
The reverse side of the coin features two maple leaves and a short branch against an interwoven textured background. The coin’s country of origin appears towards the top, while the 1 oz weight and .99999 purity are inscribed at the bottom. The words “FINE GOLD” and “OR PUR” confirms with Canada’s tradition of using both English and French on its coinage.
Over the past 10 to 15 years, the Royal Canadian Mint has issued a limited quantity of ultra-pure .99999 fine gold coins. These coins are treasured by collectors and investors alike for their unusual level of purity and extremely low mintages. Furthermore, their unique designs contribute further to their wide appeal.
This scarce edition of the Gold Maple Leaf coin has a total mintage of just 27,476 pieces. To protect the coin and attest to its remarkable purity, each specimen was issued in a sealed tamper-evident assay card. As a result, these 2008 99.999% pure Gold Maples remain in pristine condition.
Each 2008 1 oz .99999 Gold Maple is shipped in its original mint-sealed assay card.
