Reverse

On the reverse face of the 2008-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Platinum Coins is the depiction of Lady Justice with the American bald eagle watching over her. Lady Justice was designed as the third and final release of the Foundations of Democracy Series. This series documents the branches of the federal government: Judicial, Legislative, and Executive.

History

2008 was the last year in which the United States Mint issued fractional-ounce coins in either version of the American Eagle Platinum Coins. The fractional-ounce coins were discontinued in 2009 and never returned. The bullion version was also discontinued that year, but did eventually return in 1 oz platinum in 2014.
