The United States Mint has earned a reputation for creating modern coin series that instill a sense of American pride. The Statehood quarters program is no exception, and the US Mint has gone a step further by releasing annual sets for each release in the program. Today, you can purchase the 2008 US Mint Silver Proof Quarters Set from Provident Metals in good condition.

Highlights:

  • Five-quarter set from the State Quarters Program!
  • Proof finish for a mirror-like appearance!
  • Minted in 90% silver!
  • Given a face value of $0.25 each by the United States Mint.
  • Set includes the following Statehood quarters: Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

The quarters in this set are minted in 90% silver. Each is struck with a stunning mirror-like proof finish that sets these quarters apart from the other quarters in circulation. The silver content of the quarters also makes them more valuable than circulation quarters.

Designs

The Statehood quarters program was designed to highlight the things that set each state apart from all of the others. The US Mint launched the program, which ran for 10 years, concluding with the release of the five contains in this 2008 set. The Statehood quarters series released the quarters in the same order that the states were ratified or join the Union. The 2008 quarters mark the final five states to become states: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii.

A bust of President George Washington is shown on the obverse of all of the quarters in current production. On the reverse side of each coin, designs will feature imagery that signifies all of the things that make that state unique. It is important to note that there are a few common elements on the reverse of each quarter: the state name, year it became a state, year of the coins release, and the phrase E Pluribus Unum.

The reverse imagery on the Oklahoma quarter features the Scissortail Flycatcher flying over Indian Blanket wildflowers. The Flycatcher and flowers are the state bird and wildflower of Oklahoma. On the back of the New Mexico quarter, the Zia sun symbol sits over the top of a topographical outline of the state. Arizonas quarter features the Grand Canyon and a Saguaro cactus. A grizzly bear eating a salmon is shown on the reverse of the Alaska quarter. On the reverse of the Hawaii quarter, there is an image of monarch King Kamehameha I and a map of the Hawaiian Islands.
