In the American Eagle Silver Series, the US Mint offers three versions of the coin, as of 2006. In 1986, the BU and Proof versions of the coin debuted, while the 2006 issue debuted the new Burnished version. The Proof American Eagle remains the more popular of the two collectible versions. Provident Metals now has near-perfect 2008-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2008-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin online from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is in near-perfect condition. A PR69 coin showcases full, original mint luster and has a maximum of two minor flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include minuscule contact marks or hairlines found outside the primary fields of the coin.
Obverse
The 2008-W Proof American Eagle Silver Coins obverse features the iconic design of Lady Liberty, which was first used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. The reverse shows a majestic eagle with outstretched wings, which symbolizes strength, freedom, and independence. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2008.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2008-W Proof Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin, the US Mint shows John Mercanti’s design of a heraldic eagle, which symbolizes strength, courage, and patriotism. Inscriptions on this field read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
