History
During his presidency, Jackson strongly opposed the Second Bank of the United States, viewing it as a corrupt and undemocratic institution that favored the wealthy elite. In 1832, he vetoed a bill to renew the Bank’s charter, which led to a political and economic conflict known as the “Bank War.” Jackson’s actions eventually resulted in the removal of federal funds from the Bank and its eventual demise.
