With its distinctive bill, beautiful plumage, and iconic laugh, its easy to see why the Kookaburra is such a popular bird in Australia. Here, we are excited to offer the 20th design of the series in a stunning large format size. Right now, you have the opportunity to get 2009 Australian Kookaburra 1 Kilo Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.

Obverse
On the obverse of 2009 Kookaburra 1 Kilo Silver Coins Queen Elizabeth II is depicted in portrait. This Fourth-Generation effigy is credited to Ian Rank-Broadley, a renowned sculptor based in England. The obverse also contains inscriptions reading ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 30 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse of 2009 Australian 1 Kilo Silver Coins features a kookaburra facing left. The bird is rendered in beautiful detail by designer Darryl Belloti as it sits perched upon a branch. In addition to the design, the reverse also features an anniversary mintmark and inscriptions that read THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, 1 KILO .999 SILVER 2009.
History
The Kookaburra Series has always been defined by two staples: the first is that every year features a different design of the kookaburra bird on the reverse. The second is that the obverse always contains a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. However, this will change soon given the passing of Her Late Majesty in 2022. The 2023 Kookaburra marks the final time the beloved queen will appear in the series. For the 2024 release, Perth plans to debut a new portrait featuring her successor, King Charles III.
