The Mexican Libertad Series from the Mexican Mint debuted in 1981. The first offering in the collection was a 1 oz gold coin, with a 1 oz silver coin to follow the next year in 1982. Since then, Libertad 1 oz Silver Coins have been available annually from the mint. Right now, you can get 2009 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.

Obverse
In the obverse design of the 2009 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin, you will find the national coat of arms. This design depicts a Mexican golden eagle in left-profile relief on a prickly pear cactus as it battles with a rattlesnake. The field includes a wreath of oak and laurel, an inscription of ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, and 10 historic versions of the seal in a ring around the central design.
Reverse
For the reverse field of 2009 Libertad 1 oz Silver Coin, the Mexican Mint offers the Type IV image of Winged Victory. Introduced with the Type III release in 1996, this image of Victory is a three-quarter-profile relief with a laurel wreath in one hand and a set of broken chains in the other. Inscriptions include 1 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 2009 LEY 999, and the mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
History
Mexican Libertad Silver Coins have gone through four design iterations since 1982. The Type I visuals directly reflected the 1921 Centenario and were used through 1991. In late 1991, the Type II design debuted and was used through 1995. In 1996, the Type III design took over, with the Type IV imagery coming to the coins in 2000.
