History

Yellowstone National park is the second oldest federally protected site in the United States behind only Hot Springs National Park. The park covers lands across Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. It was established by the US Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872. It was the first site in the US to earn the title national park and is regarded by many to be the first national park in the world.
