The Proof American Eagle coins were first introduced in 1986. Although the 1/4 oz was not released until 1988, it quickly became among the most popular in the collection. 2010 marked the second consecutive release of the four coins of the Proof Gold Eagle ranged in which the 1/4 oz coin was in the lowest demand. The 2010 Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin is now available in perfect condition from Provident Metals.
The NGC has given perfect certifications to each coin in this product listing. Coins that receive a grade of PF70 means they exhibit full, original qualities with no flaws that jeopardize surface areas or design elements. UCAM stands for ultra-cameo. These labels indicate the coins have enhanced visual brilliance with strong, frosted elements and a mirrored background field.
The obverse of the 2010 Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin features an iconic design of Lady Liberty. She is shown walking towards the viewer holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. This design of Lady Liberty was created by Saint-Gaudens in 1904 at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt in hopes of modernizing the countrys coin design. The obverse also includes the United State Capitol Building in the background and 50 stars surrounding outside of these coins.
On the reverse of these coins, you will see an image only featured on the Gold Eagles from the U.S. Mint. A male eagle flies over the family nest while a single hatchling lies under the female eagles wing for protection. This image was designed by Miley Busiek.
Proof American Eagle Gold Coins were introduced in three stages. The 1/4 oz coin was released last in 1988 along with the 1/10 oz. The 1/4 oz gold coins were among the most popular in this collection between 1988 and 2006.
