Like other coins released previously, the 2011 coin has been struck in 91.67% fine gold and holds a face value of five dollars. Compared to releases in prior years, the 2011 coin was able to be ordered with unrestricted quantities. History

Obverse

Lady Liberty is seen striding toward the viewer with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Behind her, sun rays extend off into the distance. This obverse design has been featured on every coin release in this collection. It also shows the coins release year printed to the right and the word LIBERTY printed at the top.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2011 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin shows the original eagle family design by Miley Busiek. The family is seen together, with the father bringing a branch to the mother and hatchling in the nest. The coins value, weight, and purity are all shown on the reverse, along with three inscriptions: IN GOD WE TRUST, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
