The American Silver Eagle has become one of the most collected silver coins worldwide, with more than 47 million coins sold in 2015. To celebrate 25 years of the series, the United States Mint issued a special five-coin set in 2011. This anniversary collection featured the traditional bullion, proof, and burnished editions, along with two special strikings: a reverse proof and an additional uncirculated coin. Certified 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver 5-Coin Sets are available today at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with individual plastic slabs for each coin!
  • Honors the 25th anniversary of the Silver Eagle Series!
  • Limited original mintage of 100,000 total sets!
  • Limited availability of certified sets!
  • Contains 1 troy oz of .999 pure silver per coin (5 troy oz total).
  • Bears individual face values of $1 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued grades of either Proof 69 or Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Obverse showcases Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design.
  • Reverse depicts John Mercantis modern Heraldic Eagle of the United States.

Each certified 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver 5-Coin Set comes with protective slabs and Proof or Mint State 69 grades. Coins in these conditions are considered near-perfect, with full mint shine and only two or fewer tiny flaws, such as minor contact marks or light hairlines outside of the main design.

Obverse

The obverse of each 2011 American Eagle Coin shows Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design. This artwork was first used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916 and remained on that series until 1947, admired by many as one of the most attractive designs in US coin history. The inscriptions here include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2011.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2011 Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, John Mercantis modern version of the heraldic eagle appears. This design continues the long tradition of eagle imagery in American coinage, linking back to earlier symbols from the 19th century. Inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

The set includes several standard Silver Eagle types. These are the Proof coin with a W mint mark, the bullion coin struck at West Point without a mint mark, and the burnished uncirculated version that also carries the W mark. Two coins were added exclusively for this anniversary release. These include an uncirculated Silver Eagle from the San Francisco Mint with the S mint mark and a reverse proof Silver Eagle from the Philadelphia Mint with the P mark. The reverse proof coin has a standout look, featuring polished design details against frosted backgrounds. This gives the coins a contrasting finish that makes each element clear and easy to see.
