Burnished silver coins are available from the United States Mint in both the American Eagle Silver Series and the America the Beautiful Series. In both cases, the US Mint takes greater care in the production of the coins. The blanks are rolled in a drum with a burnishing medium before striking to create a frosted or matte finish. Each one is removed by gloved hands, struck with the design, and removed again from the coining press using gloved hands.

John Flanagan created this portrait of the first President of the United States of American in 1932 using a 1786 bust of Washington as inspiration for his design. The Lincoln Bridge was constructed over a creek within the park in 1909 and named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln on the 100th anniversary of his birth. The bridge is constructed of limestone blocks.

History

Chickasaw National Recreation Area was named in honor of the Chickasaw Indian Nation. The tribe ceded the first 640 acres of land to the federal government that were used to establish the natural preserve.
