Each 2012 Libertad contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and will arrive in brilliant uncirculated condition.
Minted since 1982, the Mexican Libertad coins are a product of the Casa de Monedo de México, the oldest mint in North America. The mint translates to “the House of Mexican Money,” and was established by the Spanish in 1535.
The 2012 Mexican Libertad contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver. Measuring 40 mm in diameter with a thickness of 3 mm, the Libertad has a small mintage making it an advantageous purchase for collectors and investors alike.
The obverse side of the 1 oz. Libertad features an image of a winged figure who acts as a symbol for the victory of Mexican Independance. Behind her stands the volcanoes that legend say holds the tomb of Princess Izatacoihuatl, who died during the war for Mexican autonomy. Much like Romeo and Juliet, the princess was said to be in love with Popocatepl, a warrior from an enemy tribe. Due to the conflict between their families, they were unable to be together. The legend says that Izatacoihuatl died of a broken heart after Popocatepl went into battle. To this day, it is said that he vigilantly watches over her burial place at the peak of the mountain. This unique and legendary allegory brings significance, merit and rich history to this rare collectible.
The reverse side of the Libertad features an eagle with a snake in its mouth hovering over a cactus. The emblem was shrunk in order to make room for a variety of Mexican province symbols that encircle the outer rim of the coin.
The 1 oz. Mexican Libertad is not only an exceptional collectible, it also immortalizes a legendary Mexican fable. Invest in this rare coin today, now available at Provident Metals. Call us at (877) 429-8790 or use our secure online ordering system.
