When you have faith and loyalty, you are rewarded. That’s the message of Daniel in the Lion’s Den, and you can be reminded of the incredible story when you own the 2012 Daniel in the Den of Lions Silver Proof NIS 2.
This Holy Land Mint coin is a proof version, available in .925 sterling silver. It has a very limited mintage of only 2,800, and it has a diameter of 38.70 mm.
The story originates in the Bible, in Chapter 6 of the book of Daniel. God’s faithful disciple, Daniel, refuses to stop praying to God, despite an order from the king. As punishment, Daniel is thrown into a den of fearsome lions.
Regretting his actions, the king goes repentantly to the den the next day, mourning is loyal friend. To his great surprise and wonder, Daniel has survived the night unharmed. The king has Daniel saved from the den, and Daniel’s rivals—who set him up for failure—were thrown into the den. The lions did not hesitate, and the enemies were destroyed.
The pivotal scene from this story is reenacted on the reverse of this silver coin. Daniel offers prayers to heaven through the bars of his horrible pit. Though lions snarl on either side, he is unharmed.
The obverse marks the face value of 2 New Sheqels, and features a small roaring lion. The Israel State Emblem is marked toward the top rim, with “Israel” written in English, Hebrew, and Arabic. Around the rim, DANIEL IN THE DEN OF LIONS is inscribed in the same three languages.
This coin will make an excellent addition to any home. Tell your family the story of Daniel with the 2012 Daniel in the Den of Lions Silver Proof NIS 2 coin, now available at Provident Metals.
