Each of these 2012 1 oz American Silver Eagles has been authenticated and has received a grade of Mint State 69 First Strike by PCGS, The Professional Coin Grading Service.
Please note, these coins were struck at the US Mint facility at San Francisco and are the bullion version and therefore do not bear an "S" Mint mark.
Produced at the U.S Mint’s location in San Francisco, the 2012 American Eagle Silver Coin contains 1 oz. of .999 fine silver. Originally introduced in 1986, the American Silver Eagle Series is among the most popular, collectible coin series in the United States. With generally low mintages and historical designs, these coins are an advantageous purchase for collectors and investors alike. Minted in San Francisco, Philadelphia and West Point, all Silver Eagles are manufactured within the United States.
The obverse of the 2012 American Silver Eagle features Adolph A. Weinman’s “Walking Liberty” design, originally created in 1916. The image shows a cloaked woman, known as Lady Liberty, striding toward the sunrise. An American flag is draped over her right shoulder as she holds a bundle of branches in her left arm. The words “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” along with the date of mintage, 2012, are additionally engraved.
The reverse side of the coin features the work of the U.S. Mint’s chief engraver, John Mercanti. The design, created in 1986 for the express purpose of being featured on each Silver Eagle, is modeled after the Great Seal, which was adopted as America’s Coat of Arms in 1782. The seal portrays an eagle holding a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing war and peace. In its mouth the bird holds a banner which reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM” or “Out of many, One.” In addition, 13 stars can be seen above the eagle’s head, representing the original 13 colonies. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “1 OZ FINE SILVER - ONE DOLLAR” rim the outer edge of the coin.
