The reverse of each 2013 1 Oz Silver Britannia features Philip Nathan’s traditional design, the beautiful Britannia–personification of Great Britain itself–donning a Corinthian helmet, a shield and a trident, the wind blowing at her robes.The obverse bears a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
With a face value of 2, the new 1 Oz Silver Britannia weighs less than its predecessors, because it has not been alloyed with other metals. Although clearly well made (mine was scratch free), and with a very classic design, the fully polished finish provides no sense of depth or contrast and in fact makes the Brittania look cheap compared to the classic Eagle or modern Maple."

I know that the coins all cant be MS70 and it seems from other reviews that it may be from the hard plastic mint packaging that are scratching these coins. I ordered 7 of these even after reading the reviews. What a mistake. All 7 had scratches to the obverse and reverse. Pretty much only good for bullion. Wish PM had a better way to check them before they sent them out. Pretty easy to pull apart mint packaging and see if they are scratched. Not worth taking the risk and paying the premium for these coins.

Received a couple of Silver Britannias today, they are roughly the same diameter & thickness as American Silver Eagles. Most of them were in pristine condition, but one coin did have 3 small scratches on it–I don’t mind at all.
The coins ranged in weight from 1.0045–1.0060 ozt, which is always reassuring.
The figure’s clothes look flat and lack the detail & texture that the American Silver Eagle has. The designers should look into creating different effects, like using a matte finish in places, instead of a completely reflective surface.

Ordered five and EVERY ONE of them were scratched. Supposed to have come from the mint sealed in plastic, but I’m here to tell you the premium is not worth it. If it came time to resell I’d be lucky to get them out at spot, but likely they’d have to be melted as scrapped. Definitely my LAST TIME buying scuffed up Britannias. Stick to Pandas or Perth Mint with sealed at the mint products!

Well even after reading all the reviews I decided to tempt fate and order one of these coins for my collection. All I have to say is I wish I didn’t. Even though the coin is gorgeous, the presence of scratches on both sides is a MAJOR let down. Provident, my advice to you on this is if people are ordering these coins for collection purpose it would really be nice if you have someone INSPECT them before you ship them. Every other sillver coin category have off quality options for people who are interested in the bullion factor. I like scratch free coins. I certainly won’t order these again.

There are a lot of scratches on this coin because of the minting process, not PM’s fault. This coin is badly damaged but the design is beautiful.

I received two of these coins today and both are scratched up. I assume that they came from the mint this way and is not provident metals fault.
Some scratches are pretty deep. While I was not expecting a perfect 70 coin these are not even remotely worth grading.
