The Perth Mint was established in 1899 when gold was discovered in Australian deposits. The mint struck gold and silver sovereigns until Great Britain abandoned the gold standard in 1931. It remained under British authority until 1970, when it ceded to the government of Western Australia. Silver Koalas were introduced by the Perth Mint in 2007, and are considered legal tender by the Currency Act of 1965.

Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. "Heck I like anything Australia. But when I purchased this bullion I was buying for the weight not necessarily the art work...in the picture the Koala artwork looks a little strange regarding how the Koala is portrayed. In hand, this coin is beautiful to hold, the weight seems to be more than 10 OZ based on the shear size of the coin. The Koala is very well done....really like this coin and will plan on buying more in the future."
