In fact, one of the three species is among the longest-lived forms of life on Earth. The oldest known of these trees is more than 4,800 years old. History

Great Basin National Park is located in an arid basin region between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Wasatch Mountains. In addition to its ancient bristlecone pines, the area is home to the Lehman Caves, the 13,063-foot peak at Wheeler Peak, and the Wheeler Peak Glacier.
