When you purchase a 2013 ATB Great Basin 5 oz Silver Coin through this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that was certified near-perfect by the NGC. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster and have no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines, and those flaws must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin. The included Early Release label means that the NGC received these coins for grading within 30 days following the original release date at the United States Mint.

Obverse

The obverse side of 2013 ATB Great Basin Silver Coins features the left-profile bust of President George Washington. This design was created in 1932 for the US Quarter by John Flanagan. It is based on a 1786 sculpted bust of Washington that was created by Jean-Antoine Houdon. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include United States of America, Liberty, In God We Trust, and Quarter Dollar.

Reverse

On the reverse field of 2013 ATB Great Basin 5 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of a bristlecone pine tree. The design focuses on a single bristlecone pine tree on an arid landscape. The bristlecone pine is split into three known species, all of which are long-lived trees that are highly-resilient and suited for live in harsh, dry climates with poor soil quality. In fact, one of the three species is among the longest-lived forms of life on Earth. The oldest known of these trees is more than 4,800 years old. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read Great Basin, Nevada, E Pluribus Unum, and 2013.

History

Great Basin National Park is located in an arid basin region between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Wasatch Mountains. In addition to its ancient bristlecone pines, the area is home to the Lehman Caves, the 13,063-foot peak at Wheeler Peak, and the Wheeler Peak Glacier.
