The 2013 Australian Colorized Lunar Snake Gemstone Eye 1 Kilo Silver Coin is the sixth design in the Lunar Series II program. The program launched in 2008, following the success of the Lunar Series I coins. The Lunar Series I was released between 1996 to 2007.

Obverse

The obverse design of the 2013 Australian Colorized Lunar Snake Gemstone Eye 1 Kilo Silver Coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown in right-profile relief on the obverse of all Australian coinage. In this particular portrait, brought to life in 1998, Her Majesty is shown at 68. Ian Rank-Broadley is the Royal Mint artist who imaged this effigy.

Reverse

On the reverse design of the 2013 Australian Colorized Lunar Snake Gemstone Eye 1 Kilo Silver Coin features the colorized image of a tree snake coiled around the branch of a tree. It is colored primarily in black, with a few scales featuring yellow colorization. If you look at the snakes eye, you will see a small black diamond placed as the eye. The black diamond signifies wisdom.
